The first symposium on the requirements of digital transformation, aimed at smartening the publishing ecosystem and fostering synergy with artificial intelligence approaches, was held at Iran University Press with the participation of managers and experts in this field.
In this meeting, the requirements of digital transformation of the publishing industry were discussed with the participation of Dr. Mohammadhadi Zahedi, Director General of Information Technology and Smartization at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology; Dr. Shahrarnia, Head of Iran University Press; the deputies and a group of the Center’s managers, as well as specialized experts in the fields of publishing and information technology, held at Iran University Press.
In this specialized meeting, the participants engaged in discussions and exchanges of views on key and specialized topics related to the infrastructural requirements of digital transformation in university publishing, the role of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in redesigning the publishing value chain, the development of intelligent publishing systems, the enhancement of electronic content production and distribution processes, and the necessity of integrating digital platforms for scientific content production and publishing.
In this meeting, Dr. Zahedi emphasized the importance of digital transformation as a strategic necessity in the ecosystem of education and research in the country. He highlighted the significance of institutionalizing the digital transformation approach in the publishing industry and considered inter-institutional synergy among policy-making bodies, IT-related sectors, and publishing organizations as essential prerequisites for achieving the digital transformation of this industry, describing them as fundamental requirements for realizing this goal.
In conclusion, emphasis was placed on the necessity of developing a comprehensive roadmap for the digital transformation of the publishing industry, designing executive and operational frameworks, establishing sustainable mechanisms for the development of smart services, enhancing the quality of digital content, as well as fostering human capital and the required technical capacities.
This symposium was evaluated as an effective step toward the smartization and digitalization of the national publishing system, as well as the purposeful utilization of modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. It was decided that the plans would be put into practice in future sessions, with the participation of publishing professionals and experts in this field.
