The first commemorative University Press is published in memory of the late Professor Abolhassan Najafi.
According to the Public Relations Department of Iran University Press, based on its track record, the University Press has been one of the most successful cultural institutions in the past few decades. The success and achievements of the University Press are the result of years of effort by a large group of experts; a group consisting of researchers, writers, translators, and elite scholars who were among the leaders in their fields.
The elites of Iran University Press have published some of their research findings, work experiences, or specialized teachings in the form of articles in the Center’s journals. Although these articles are both part of the country’s cultural heritage and a valuable source for research and knowledge, a number of them are difficult to find. In order to provide researchers with access to the complete collection of articles by the greats of the University Press, the “Press Monument” project was submitted to the Research Council of Iran University Press and, after approval, was included in the work program for implementation.
The aim of this project is to publish articles by outstanding figures of the Press in special volumes. Each book in the Press Memorial Collection consists of two parts: the first part collects articles by each of the prominent professors of the Press that have been published in the Press and the second part includes speeches written about them by colleagues, students, or friends of that professor.
The first issue of the Press memorial series pays tribute to the memory of Professor Abolhassan Najafi. This book includes Professor Najafi’s articles in Nashr Danesh magazine, along with speeches written about him by seven colleagues or students of this enduring figure in Persian culture and literature. Professor Najafi, a prominent researcher, linguist, writer, translator, and editor of our country, collaborated with Iran University Press for many years. His most famous book (Let’s don’t Write Incorrect: The Dictionary of the Difficulties of the Persian Language) as well as many of his articles have been published by the Press . Professor Najafi was also one of the instructors of Iran University Press ’s editing courses, and by nurturing a new generation of professional editors, he rendered another valuable service to Iranian culture.
The next issues of Press memorial are dedicated to Dr. Reza Mansouri, Dr. Nasrollah Pourjavadi, the late Dr. Alireza Shapourshahbazi, the late Dr. Javad Hadidi, and other great figures of Iran University Press.
